Can You Trust Reggie Bush?

Dec 14, 2012

.
Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush has had a weird year. He started the season with a bang. He fizzled in the middle. Currently, he’s trending in the right direction. Can he be trusted in the most important matchups of the season?
.
Bush had 115 total yards in the season opener. He then exploded for 197 total yards and two touchdowns in Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders.
.
Over the next eight games Bush averaged 57.1 total yards with just two touchdowns. Daniel Thomas worked his way into the mix, averaging 40.3 total yards during the stretch. His 10.3 touches per game cut into Reggie’s workload.
.
In the past three games, Reggie has outgained Thomas 83 yards per game to 36.7. Thomas has averaged just 6.3 touches per game. In the past two games, the San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots have held Thomas to 13 yards on seven carries (1.9 yards per carry).
.
Bush is back, and just in time for the fantasy playoffs.
.
This week Reggie faces the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags rank 31st in the league with 145.7 rushing yards allowed per game. They are tied for the league lead with the Buffalo Bills with 18 rushing touchdowns allowed..
.
Speaking of the Bills, they are Reggie’s opponent in Week 16. Not only have they allowed all of those rushing touchdowns, they rank 28th in run defense with 134.5 yards per game allowed.
.
The Dolphins play both of those games at home. Reggie is averaging 70.3 rushing yards per game at 5.2 yards per carry compared to 52.7 and 3.8 on the road. He has also scored three of his five touchdowns at home despite playing one fewer game in South Beach.
.
Reggie become a free agent next year. Surely, he’d like to finish the year on a strong note so he can cash in. Hopefully, he’ll help you cash in with a fantasy championship along the way.
