Von Wafer vs. Mike Miller
In the past month Von Wafer has been a scoring machine. He’s averaging 16.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2.0 three-pointers per game. He’s even shooting at a healthy clip at 51.9%. He could be better at the line (71.4%), but that nor his 0.9 turnovers per game will really hinder your fantasy team. It’s amazing if you take a look at his number pre-New Year’s Day and post-New Year’s Day. It’s like he flipped a switch. I guess we know what his New Year’s Resolution was. Despite his surge he’s owned in just 20% of Yahoo and 4.9% of ESPN leagues.
Meanwhile, Mike Miller is owned in 67% of Yahoo and 80.8% of ESPN leagues. Miller not only has struggled with and ankle injury, but he is yielding minutes to Rodney Carney. In the last month he’s averaging 5.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game. He’s hardly earning his reputation as a sharp shooter with 0.6 three-pointers per game, a 33.3% field goal percentage, and a 52.9% free throw percentage. Heck, Shaq is shooting 65.6% from the line over the past month. His 1.1 turnovers per game aren’t terrible, but they are still higher than Wafer’s.
Maybe it’s time to consider Wafer. Some food for though. Pun intended.
