World Series Fantasy Baseball Players of the Day – Game 5

Oct 30, 2008

Game 5
Jayson Werth went 2 for 3 with a Run, an RBI, 2 Walks, and a SB.  Shane Victorino had 2 RBI.  Pedro Feliz went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Pat Burrell hit a Double.  Chase Utley, B.J. Upton, and Geoff Jenkins each scored a Run.  Carlos Pena went 2 for 4 with a Run, a Double, and an RBI.  Rocco Baldelli hit a solo HR.  Evan Longoria had an RBI.  Akinori Iwamura went 2 for 4.

J.C. Romero pitched 1-1/3 scoreless Innings to earn the Win for the Phillies.  Brad Lidge pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the Save for the Phillies and nail down their first World Series win since 1980.  Cole Hamels gave up 2 Runs on 5 Hits in 6 Innings, but got a no-decision.  Chad Bradford and David Price (2 Ks) each threw a scoreless Inning of relief.

A few notes:
Congrats to the Phillies!

The game should never have been started in the first place.  They should have at least called it before it was an official game and started over.

Patti LaBelle destroyed the National Anthem.  Just awful.  I am a little ashamed that the Phillies’ fans didn’t boo.  That’s what they do.

Tampa fans – maybe next year you’ll actually go to the ballpark.

Philly fans – no more batteries, booing Santa, etc. for at least a year.

Hehe. There are a few bad seeds that spoil it for everyone, but they do have that reputation. Although they didn’t boo Patti. That bothered me.

I do need to hear about your time in Eagle jail. That’s awesome.

booing of guys like mike schmidt. when you reach some point in your career you should be above booing. I’ll boo my own team if there’s cause for it.

Some Philly fans are just so close-minded. They don’t give credit to the other team. Not that you’re that way.

I had one guy arguing with me once that scott rolen was better than Mike Schmidt and nothing I said would convince him otherwise.
